Raised in Detroit, MI in the early 40’s, psychologist Dr. Robert Borgman was a little boy during WWII and the emotional trauma of frequent air raid drills affected his behavior. At the age of four, he was diagnosed as intellectually disabled, though today, a lifetime of accomplishments certainly proves otherwise.

Parker White (pictured with husband Robert) is founder of the Backpack Beginnings program of Guilford County. In 2010, Parker partnered with Second Harvest Food Bank to establish the program, which sends home backpacks stocked with a weekend’s supply of food to 152 children at five schools in Guilford County. Today, Parker shares her personal motivation for becoming involved.

Back in the fifties, Winston-Salem Firefighting Station No. 4 was manned by eight black men and seven white men who decided that if they worked together, they could also sit side-by-side to share a meal together. Today, Peyton & John share the story of how Station 4 became Winston-Salem’s first racially-integrated, professional firefighting company.
